For any aircraft, there are different systems requiring nitrogen at different PSI ranges. For this reason, it is important to have both a low and a high-pressure regulator. The purpose of having a low-pressure regulator is to service low pressure nitrogen systems for example, aircraft tires.
The purpose of having a high pressure regulator is to service high pressure nitrogen systems for example, aircraft struts and accumulators, which are used as a backup system for hydraulic failure. A low/high regulator system allows the operator to service low and high psi ranges without switching bottles or regulators. One service regulator system can then service all nitrogen requirements of an aircraft.
